Rachel Jean Robertson
Born in California, raised in Minneapolis Minnesota, Rachel was parented by two teachers in the land of many lakes and 6 months of snowy winter. From a very early age she knew that she never really wanted to be an adult, she loved to dance, loved nature, and she wanted to see the world.
When she was 18 she lived in Mexico for 6 months and studied at an art school where she learned to speak Spanish fluently. In university, Rachel majored in International studies focusing on China. She lived in Beijing for a year where she learned to speak Chinese fluently, and studied Chinese culture and Kung Fu! She also lived in France for 3 months where she studied French and art.
In 2000 Rachel moved to Barcelona where she began her career in performance arts. Working with other performers taught her more than she could have imagined. In 2003 she formed DeReojo Dance Company, which evolved into La Marea Dance Association, which Rachel helped to found in 2006. Rachel also worked for the Spanish social services in Barcelona for a number of years as a Chinese-Spanish interpreter.
Rachel has always loved to play games. She began in 2002 organizing city-wide treasure hunts in Barcelona for her friends on Halloween, The games grew and in 2006 she began professionally organizing team building events for companies. Perhaps her official title could be “Awakener of Inner Child.” She loves to create absurd yet enlightening situations in which one feels ridiculous and yet incredibly daring and empowered.
In June of 2008 Rachel moved to Ibiza and was promptly introduced to the folks at Casita Verde. She has found great inspiration in the island and feels that Ibiza is a place where she can happily live more closely to nature.
